Boston Children’s Museum: O-Shogatsu Celebration
Gather to welcome 2019 Japanese Oshogatsu style at The Boston Children’s Museum! Dance with Taiko drumming beats, pound Mochi sticky rice, parade with Shishi the lion, and relax with Chado the tea ceremony. Try hands-on activities such as Koma spinning tops, Fuku-warai lucky laugh game, Origami (giant & wearable origami), Omikuji fortune telling and more!
This year’s Oshogatsu kicks off the year-long celebration of the 60th Anniversary of Kyoto/Boston Sister Cities Friendship! Boston Children’s Museum is home to the Japanese House (Kyo-no-Machiya), an authentic silk merchant’s house from Kyoto, Japan. The house will be decorated in New Year’s fashion for the event with many symbols of good luck.
