Porter Square Books: Blair Hurley with Courtney Sender and Ilyon Woo

Blair Hurley is the author of THE DEVOTED, which was longlisted for The Center for Fiction’s First Novel Prize. Her second novel, MINOR PROPHETS will be published in 2023. Her work is published in New England Review, Electric Literature, The Georgia Review, Guernica, Paris Review Daily, West Branch, and elsewhere. She is a Pushcart Prize winner and an ASME Fiction award finalist.

Courtney Sender’s essays appear in The New York Times’ Modern Love, The Atlantic, and Slate. Her fiction appears in the current Ploughshares, as well as in The Kenyon Review, AGNI, Tin House, American Short Fiction, and many others. Her debut book, In Other Lifetimes All I’ve Lost Comes Back to Me, released this March and was called “a deep and howling portrait of longing and loneliness” by The Boston Globe. She is also staff writer for the iHeartMedia podcast Noble Blood. A Yaddo and MacDowell fellow, she holds an MFA from the Johns Hopkins Writing Seminars and an MTS from Harvard Divinity School.

Ilyon Woo is the New York Times best-selling author of Master Slave Husband Wife: An Epic Journey From Slavery to Freedom, and The Great Divorce: A Nineteenth-Century Mother’s Extraordinary Fight Against Her Husband, the Shakers, and Her Times. She has written for The Boston Globe, The Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, and other publications, and received support for her research from the Whiting Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and other organizations. She holds a BA in the Humanities from Yale College and a PhD in English from Columbia University.
