Society of Arts + Crafts: Child’s Play

Join the Society of Arts + Crafts as they celebrate the opening of their newest exhibition, Child’s Play. Like craft, toys and games bring out joy and amusement through interaction, shared memories, and imagination. This exhibition takes a serious look at the state of innocence by revisiting and then promptly reinterpreting some of your favorite childhood memories through the tongue-in-cheek lens of adulthood. Some toys are reimagined using alternative materials and repurposed objects; others are remade to highlight their sinister undertones and political underpinnings.

Accompanying the show’s original contemporary works, Child’s Play will also feature pieces from the Wenham Museum, including an 18th-century doll, puzzles, and wood toy blocks.

This opening reception is free to all. Light fare and refreshments will be available for guests, as well as classic childhood board games.

Child’s Play will be on view through January 18, 2020.
