Situated in the Seaport, this Aesop incarnation recalls the area’s industrial and nautical past. The brand’s in-house design team selected materials associated with ports and their cargo to transform what was a chalk-white shell of a space into a sea-green oasis of quietude.
On the façade, corrugated weathering steel acts as a subtle beacon. Within, scalloped concrete panels curve around the interior, articulating a duo of grotto-like zones. Floating in the center of the first hollow, a generous basin takes on the role of a life-raft, its thermoformed structure reminiscent of a boat’s hull. As guests travel through to the second cavern, recessed niches lined with recycled fiberglass allow for intimate sink demonstrations and explorations of Aesop’s range of unconventional Eau de Parfum. The play of light and texture through the translucent substance heightens the sense of buoyancy in the store. Here, customers can discuss the formulations best suited to their individual needs with the store’s trained consultants.
