GrubStreet

GrubStreet is one of the nation’s leading creative writing centers. With the belief that narrative transforms lives, builds bridges, and produces empathy. By rigorously developing voices of every type and talent and by removing barriers to entry, GrubStreet fosters the creation of meaningful stories and ensures that excellent writing remains vital and relevant.

All writers need insightful readers, inspiration, support, and honest feedback. That’s what GrubStreet provides, in a supportive and thriving community. With over six hundred classes and events a year for writers of all genres and ambitions—from first-time poets or fledgling memoirists to MFA graduates and published novelists.

GrubStreet’s space in Seaport features expanded classrooms for teens and adults, community space to read and write, a bookstore run by friends of Porter Square Books, a cafe, a podcast studio, and a stage for the literary arts with cabaret seating. This large space also offers full ADA-accessibility (including hearing assistance technology in the classrooms), and allows for expanded literary programs for writers and readers of all ages and backgrounds. Writers are able to choose from more classes and readers can enjoy a top-notch bookstore. The new center gives Boston a lasting home for storytelling and the literary arts, where everyone can have a chance to speak and be heard.
