Designed by architect Richard Dattner in the mid-1960s, the PlayCubes depart from the common urban formula for play, emphasizing creativity and child-directed play. The 14-sided cuboctahedrons provide opportunities for sliding, climbing, and crawling through tunnels. Their geometry resists literal interpretation, leaving the experience up to the child’s creativity and imagination.

This playground is made possible by our friends at Design Museum Boston, Playworld, and Ultiplay.

Our Seaport PlayCubes are brought to us by KinderCare Learning Centers, a place where every child can learn, explore, and discover in a safe and nurturing environment.
